The 2019 Kia Sedona offers Colorado families features, function, and style

The Sedona seats seven on the base L trim and eight on the remaining trims. Since kids are known to be messy, you'll appreciate that Sedona minivans without leather interiors have cloth seats that have been treated with YES Essentials fabric care, so if you hit a bump the spilled juice won't be a problem.

All trims have Slide-n-Stow® second-row seats. Once you fold the third-row down, you can slide the second-row seats so they're touching the front seats, which gives you more cargo space. This lets you turn the Sedona into a capable hauler, and you don't have to worry about removing the heavy seats like you do with some minivans on the market! With all seats up you'll have 33.9 cubic feet, 78.4 cubic feet behind the second row, and 142 cubic feet of max cargo space.

The engine for all trims is a 3.3L V6 with 276 horsepower, 248 lb-ft torque, and when properly equipped the Sedona can tow up to 3,500 pounds. These specs are the same as last year, but there is an 8-speed transmission instead of a 6-speed, and that makes for smoother handling as you do errands around Westminster.

Even with the base trim you won't feel like you're really missing out tech-wise. You'll get a sizeable 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone integrations, and the Eco Drive Mode to help you converse fuel on daily commutes or longer trips. The Sedona doesn't have a ton of standard advanced safety features, but that's not a bad thing: not everyone wants those technologies, forgoing them keeps the starting costs affordable for more families, and you can get them on the higher trim levels. What you will get standard is Bluetooth for hands-free calls, a backup camera, and front projection headlights with LED positioning lights for easier nighttime driving.

Available Kia Sedona Models:

We already went over many of the standard features, which make up the L trim. Along with those amenities, the Sedona L has auto light control, manual sliding doors, and seating for seven. For those who like to keep things simple (yet still modern) or who're on a budget, the L is a great option.

The Sedona LX has a few more creature comforts than the base model. For example, the driver gets an 8-way power seat that also has lumbar support; commuting around Lakewood has gotten a little more comfortable. Little kids will also have an easier time getting out with the power-sliding side doors, and you'll get to seat up to eight passengers from this trim on.

Starting on the Sedona EX you'll get the UVO eServices infotainment system. With this "personal assistant" app you can receive vehicle diagnostics, parking reminders, get geographic and speed alerts if you're letting a teen borrow the Sedona for a night out, and it'll connect with Kia's roadside program or send out a 911 alert if the airbags have been deployed. Other convenience technologies include a wireless phone charger, heated leather front seats, and a smart key with push button start. This trim also has a parking distance warning for pulling in or reversing, a blind spot collision warning, and rear cross-traffic alerts.

If you want to add more to the Sedona EX, there are some package options for getting extra advanced safety features or convenience technologies.

If you live in Denver you probably have a lot of things to do with the family, so you'll want a fully-loaded Sedona SX. Sitting at the top of the lineup, the SX has everything. There's a few other advanced safety technologies —like pedestrian detection and smart cruise with stop/go —, a smart power liftgate that senses if anything is in the way when closing, an 8-inch touchscreen, heating and ventilation for the front seat, a heated steering wheel for the winter, and you get a sunroof to enjoy all the sunny days we get in Colorado.

The only package feature for the Sedona SX is a dual-screen rear entertainment system for those out back, so if you spend a lot of time behind the wheel and want to keep the kids happy (and, most importantly, quiet), this is a feature worth tacking on.
