Performance

The new Kia Sorento offers various engine options available in all-wheel or front-wheel drive. The base engine is a 191-horsepower 2.5-liter inline-four cylinder. The next size up is a 281-horsepower turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder option. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard for both engine options. Hybrid models with a six-speed automatic transmission have a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that teams up with an electric motor to produce 227 horsepower. A plug-in hybrid is also available, which generates a combined 261 horsepower.

The base engine can easily tow up to 2,000 pounds for hauling goods around Denver. Stepping up to the turbocharged engine with the available towing package on the new Sorento bumps up the figure to 3,500 pounds. For fuel-conscious drivers, the hybrid trims of the new Sorento are the most fuel-efficient. Fuel economy for the hybrid is 35 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. The plug-in hybrid can drive up to 32 miles on electric power alone.

Interior
