Kia Sorento vs the Competition

Discover What Sets the Kia Sorento Apart with Grand Kia
When it comes to transporting your family in and around the Denver area, the Kia Sorento SUV is a topnotch choice. Not only is it stylish and easy to drive, it also offers three-row sensibility in a size that's easier to maneuver and park. At Grand Kia in Thornton, we believe the Kia Sorento is the best choice for our customers who are looking for a three-row crossover, and we've done the research to prove it.
We know you have options here in the Westminster and Arvada area, but we also know that our collection of top-quality Kia models offer a level of quality, features, and warranty unlike the competition. To illustrate that, we've put together some research, pitting our Sorento crossover against similar, competing models from Honda and Toyota.
Read on to learn more about the ways in which the seven-passenger Sorento comes out ahead of the competition.
The Kia Sorento vs. the Toyota Highlander
- Warranty. It's tough to compete with the outstanding manufacturer warranty that Kia backs each Sorento model with. You can expect coverage for an astounding 10 years or 100,000 miles with the Sorento, while the Toyota Highlander is backed for just five years or 60,000 miles.
- Engine options and hybrid engineering. The Kia Sorento has four great engines for Denver area drivers to choose from including two innovative hybrid systems. While the Toyota is also available in either gas or hybrid options, it doesn't have as many available powertrains as the Sorento. Plus, the Sorento menu includes a cutting-edge plug-in hybrid option that can travel up to 30 miles on electric power alone. The Toyota Highlander hybrid is not a plug-in and it doesn't offer any electric-only driving ability.
- Interior space. While these two SUVs offer similar exterior measurements and interior dimensions, the Kia Sorento maximizes its interior space better. For example, the third row in the Toyota Highlander comes in with just 27 inches of legroom, leaving it best suited for small children. But even taller people will be comfy in the third row of the Kia Sorento, which offers more than 31 inches of back-row legroom.
The Kia Sorento vs. the Honda Pilot
- Hybrid technology. It's no secret that drivers throughout the Lakewood area, and across the country, gravitate towards efficient and alternative engine sources these days. To that end, if you're searching for a hybrid SUV for your family, the Sorento is the way to go. It's available in four different engines, including two hybrid options, while the Honda Pilot is strictly a traditional, gas-powered SUV that comes with one V6 system and no alternatives.
- Fuel economy. Even without hybrid engineering, the Kia Sorento offers better fuel economy than the Honda Pilot. Just looking at the entry-level Sorento, you can expect 24 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway, and 26 mpg combined. But the Honda Pilot is rated for 20 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg combined. Add in the Sorento hybrid options, and you can expect even greater amounts of efficiency and capability.
- Legroom and comfort. While both of these SUVs offer family-friendly seating in three rows, the Kia Sorento is the more comfortable model, with more legroom for you and your passengers in both the front and the rear than the Honda Pilot.
